Bio of Adam Weiss and History of WDI
Born in Wroclaw Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1989. He holds a PhD in Applied Physics from the Technical University of Wroclaw and a Masters in Electrical Engineering and Control Systems also from the Technical University of Wroclaw. Dr. Weiss lectured at the University in Applied Physics under the Mechanical Engineering Division. Adam is the author of over 30 patent applications worldwide and was published in a number of scientific journals while still at the University.
Prior to opening his own company Adam held a number of positions in R&D: he was the R&D Manager at Kelk Corp, this company developed optical instrumentation for the metal rolling industry; at Morphometrics Adam was the Director of New Technology Development, this company designed machine vision systems for medical applications; in IPS (Image Processing Systems) and PDI (Photon Dynamics Inc) Adam was the Chief Scientist and designed glass inspection instrumentation and TFT array inspection systems.
Adam used the knowledge he gained through his years working in the field and his entrepreneurial spirit to start WDI Wise Device Inc. Here Adam is not only the President and founder but also the Chief Technology Officer. As the Chief Technology Officer, Adam is constantly coming up with new and innovative solutions to customer and market problems. He is known for these ideas coming to him at unusual moments such as family trips abroad or during his sailing adventures. Adam is an avid sailor and has built his own sail boat which he sailed while living in Poland.
WDI, a technology based company, founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Ontario Canada. It is a leader in the development of innovative industrial microscopy equipment and accessories for automated optical inspection, defects review and laser micro machining systems. WDI's microscopy equipment contributes to the productivity and high yield of practically all the large LCD flat panel display fabrication lines. With the recent expansion of WDI's technology base into pico-second laser applications, WDI expanded its market to the semiconductor wafer, solar cell processing and biomedical field. WDI markets its products through agents and OEM partners in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, the US and Europe.
Through his charismatic character Adam Weiss was able to gather an outstanding team of Engineers, Scientists, and Technologists. This team started in Adam's fist job in Canada at Leco and has grown in number as he moved from one company to the next. It is these people who have made WDI's existence possible, their belief in Adam's plan and their own aptitude. They were able to come together after the shutdown of PDI and create a company that fosters innovation, research and development and a scientific spirit. WDI is not only a company but a community ready to cultivate new Canadian Technologies in the 21 century.
